Artist Statement: Working with the abstract, the non-figurative, the non-representable and the theoretical allows one to confront issues that are personal and delicate, to tell stories of endurance and survival even though the references are secreted. I use different mediums yet more recently I prefer found objects; I create contemporary sculptures depicting notions of nostalgia and longing, abandonment and dislocation, questioning the anxieties that confront the contemporary culture and the human experience in the twenty first century.
I see painting as a dilemma considering the high technology that disseminates and propagates information sometimes erroneously particularly in the case of popular media. I have diverted the imagery and illusion played out on a flat surface to a three-dimensional form and I think the references are actually more overt, more pure.
