Simon Alexander

Simon is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer who has studied at Sydney College of the Arts, received the Design School Academic Award and is also trained and experienced in Natural Area (ecological) Restoration. He has worked with leading architects and studios including Burley Katon Halliday and designed community public art events, habitats and landscape installations in Sydney west. His usable art furniture has been published, acquired in several private and public collections and exhibited at (Object, TAP and Casula Powerhouse, ATVP and Remo galleries in Sydney NSW; Northern Territory Art Gallery; South Australian Museum; Fringe Furniture VIC and Aust Embassy Germany) having firstly represented Australia at Talentborse Handwerk, Munich 1992. Simon acknowledges previous support from the Australia Council for the Arts, Parramatta City Council (arts & heritage) and NSW NRM programs.

Simon takes much inspiration from a life sensitive to natural bushland and conservation and seeks synthesis and best-fit design outcomes in response to challanges of eco-design innovation toward sustainability, and furniture with intergenerational and global relevance.
